Google Package Tracking on its way!
Earlier this week Google has confirmed its addition of Package Tracking feature into search. Google finds many users often searching for their package tracking information and probably this has led google to come up with its own feature to incorporate. Google’s new package tracking feature will enable shipping companies to show people the status of their package right on search.
Although it’s still an early adopters program, It is accessible to all countries. Shipping companies can sign up to participate in this feature and provide their feedback on how to improve the feature. To take part in the program, a carrier will need to provide a RESTful JSON or XML API that returns the package tracking information. Google also says they can work to reuse an existing API or setup a new one.
No wonder, this feature is going to be a massive help for millions of users across the world. This feature will let users directly enter a Package ID acquired from the shipping company and track their desire product.
Here are the eligibility requirements to participate in this feature:
- One must be a package delivery company or the sole authorized provider of packing tracking information for a package delivery company
- Google Package Tracking makes real-time calls to a RESTful JSON API to retrieve package tracking information. Participants will need to make this API available to Google and meet certain availability, content, and responsiveness guidelines.
Here is the fill out form that one needs to fill up in order to participate on the program.
